STAR FOR BROOKLYN HEALTH MAGAZINE SHOW

The STAR Program launches #BeHealthyForYou a campaign promoting community health practices, and introduces “STAR FOR BROOKLYN” TV program.

#BeHealthyForYou at the STAR Program at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University promotes the notion that health begins with yourself, and encompasses all aspects of your life, including your relationships, your work, and your physical health. It also conveys the importance of taking time to assess how we feel, and motivates the community to take the time to incorporate healthy activities that make us feel better about ourselves, such as running, dancing, meditating, writing, yoga, music, etc.

Director, STAR Program Jack A. DeHovitz, MD, MPH, MHCDS, FACP

// Quote: “We are launching the #BeHealthyForYou campaign to encourage everyone to work with their healthcare providers and take responsibility for their health. It is important to me to be as healthy as possible. I work out a few days a week, I’m cautious about what I eat, and I always take my medications as directed. I want the community to know that I’m healthy for me, and I want YOU to be healthy for you!”

As part of STAR’s ongoing community outreach initiatives, the #BeHealthyForYou campaign presents a series of videos featured across all digital social media platforms in which our doctors, nurses, patients, and community members will share what they do in their day-to-day lives to better themselves and to stay healthy. The campaign will include a series of videos with important information about PrEP, PEP, sexually transmitted infections (STI) and how to protect yourself, and by inviting the community to get tested in order to maintain a sexual health consciousness.

Taking STAR beyond digital platforms and premiering this August is the introduction of “STAR for Brooklyn”, a 30-minute weekly televised TV health magazine program broadcast across New York City’s five boroughs: Mondays at 10:30am and 5pm on BRIC TV on Time Warner Ch. 34;  FiOS Ch. 42; Spectrum Ch.1992; or Optimum Ch.67! and Fridays at 7:30am on MANHATTAN NEIGHBORHOOD NETWORK (MANN) MANN.ORG based upon STAR’s #BeHealthyForYou campaign.
