AIDS Education and Training Center

SUNY Downstate’s STAR Program is a local performance site of Northeast / Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC).  http://necaaetc.org/  The AETC  provides on-site HIV training and technical assistance for multidisciplinary health care providers in Brooklyn and Staten Island, targeting community-based clinics, hospitals, and substance abuse treatment programs that provide HIV care or are scaling up HIV-related services. The training population includes physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, nursing assistants, dentists, dental assistants, social workers, case managers and other health care support service professionals. For clinicians who would like experiential training in HIV care, AETC organizes observational preceptorships at the STAR Health Center.
